Bunny Brunel's design expertise not only comes from his virtuosity on the bass, but his experience with that type of instrument since 1974, when he designed his first electric upright bass that he played around the world with great musicians like Chick Corea and Tony Williams.
The Specs Are: • 3/4 Size Upright Bass (41 1/4 scale) With a D Neck. (D necks are defined by the heel on the back of the neck being placed just across the D note on the G string. In other words, if you put your thumb at the heel of the neck, you will be able to play a D with your first finger pressing on the G string. These type of necks are used on all the Italian and French basses. The German type basses are Eb necks.) • Classic Hard Rock Maple Neck and Scroll with fret markers on the side to help beginners and electric bass players who want to switch to upright bass. • Ebony or Rosewood Fingerboard with small markers for the high register to compensate from the missing body for positioning. • Solid 2 Pieces Laminated Red Mahogany Body Sunburst with a satin clear polyurethane. • Standard Fiddle Style Maple Bridge adjustable to provide an action range from a very high to electric fretless bass type action. • Rick Turner Pressure Piezzo Pick-Ups (Rick's pick-up gives a very realistic acoustic finger picking and bowing sound. The pressure piezzo system reproduce perfectly the typical 50 cycle attack of the acoustic basses). • Russ Allee/Brunel Active Electronics with volume control, bass control cut and boost, treble control cut and boost, and midrange control cut and boost (for a very versatile choice of sounds ranging from the very woody to the most growling styles). • The bass is on a folding stand that can be adjusted to any angle possible for easy playing. • The strings used are standard Labella acoustic bass strings.
