: In Baroque music the Melodic Minor scale is mistakenly thought to be the same as the Natural minor scale (Aeolian) the six degree of the major mode. Because they are wrong they tryed to make it fit going down as an aeolian scale!!!!! The Melodic minor scale is in fact a Dorian Scale with a major 7th going up and down the same way. Nobody uses this scale going up Melodic and going down Aeolian in any composition that make sense. This is just ridiculous that they still teach that nonsense to people.
