I remember one of our lessons on the Melodic Minor scale when you told me that it was taught that you played the Melodic Minor down the scale, from low note to hi, but the 6th and 7th notes were natural on the way back. I thought you told me that this was not the case anymore and that the way the Melodic Minor is layed out in the books you did with Mel Bay were the way it should be. However, that was three years ago and I don't use the Melodic Minor unless I'm playing Heard It Through The Grapevine.
I have a student who is also a vocal major and he was relating to me their lesson on this scale and basically told me the same thing. It's sung one way down and differently back up.
Please, if you have time, refresh my memory. I would hate to impart bad information. He's a promising student.
